Identifying a TMS Candidate

TMS THERAPY MDD INDICATION 


TMS therapy is indicated for adults with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) that have failed 1 antidepressant of a high enough dose and duration.


TYPICAL INSURANCE CRITERIA*

• MDD DIAGNOSIS

• 2 OR MORE MEDICATION TRIALS

• RECEIVED EVIDENCE-BASED TALK THERAPY


WHO MAY BE A CANDIDATE?

• Not satisfied with results of antidepressants

• Responded to medication, but not in remission

• Cannot tolerate medication side effects

• Has failed 1 or more medication trials

• Wishes to avoid antidepressants and/or augmentors

• Has MDD. Not FDA-cleared for Bipolar Depression, Schizoaffective Disorder, or Schizophrenia


POTENTIAL CONTRAINDICATIONS

• Metallic implants in the head/neck (exception: braces & dental fillings)

• History of seizure disorder

• Implanted medical devices, like a pacemaker
